Someone Else, Somewhere Else

2013

Someone Else, Somewhere Else No.1 : Book pages / burned clay.

Someone Else, Somewhere Else No.2 : Book pages / burned clay / 19,5 x 12,5 cm / 6 pieces.

Someone Else, Somewhere Else No.3 : Book pages from Existentialism Is a Humanism / burned clay.

Someone Else, Somewhere Else No.4 : Newspaper page / burned clay / black painted wooden frame / 30,5 x 55,9 cm.

Someone Else, Somewhere Else is the artist’s first systematic practice regarding a research on contextuality

via ductile materials. The artist collects pages of academic monographs or newspaper clippings, covers

partial lines or the figures’ heads with clay, and creates a possibility of interpretation on such basis. The

message conveyed in original contexts is disrupted or even omitted, guiding a reader to read, identify, and

eventually to give up the efforts for speculating and understanding. The artist demonstrates the mechanism

of construction and transmission of messages to further inquire predefined experiences depending on

contexts, highlighting the complexity of exchanges.
